About

Growing up my aunt was the family photographer at all of our gatherings and I have always looked up to her and wanted to be like her. When I was five years old my mom got me a disposable camera and I took pictures of everything around me. A few years ago, I went through my aunt’s pictures and family videos from my childhood to explore my adoption from China.

My senior capstone, Coming Together, focuses on a newly formed family and their Chinese adoption journey. This has given me the opportunity to re-experience my own adoption through the eyes of that family; from stories told by my parents and through the media captured by my aunt. This project, in the form of a multimedia piece, looks at the changing demographics of adopted Chinese children.

Fall 2019, I worked as the photo editing intern at CNN in Atlanta, Georgia. During this time, I searched the wire agencies for images, completed incoming photo requests, and created galleries of events and people. I was given the opportunity to work along side a team of photo editors based in New York City, London, DC, and Atlanta and learned to communicate with writers and legal professionals. I became knowledgeable of the standards and legal steps it took for photos to be used on our digital platform, and I was able to see photos through the process.

Currently, I am working remote as the Social Media and Fellowship Specialist at Mortar Board National College Senior Honor Society. I oversee the social media accounts and record the return on investment each month. Additionally, I am the point person for the fellowship program that helps fund Mortar Board members for a year of grad school. My role allow me to curate content for our social media platforms, create graphics for marketing and communication purposes, and photo editing and planning our quarterly Forum publication.

As of March 2022, I also work as a Photo Editor at the National Basketball Association (NBA). In this position, I am live editing large batches of photos while photographers are shooting NBA, WNBA, and G League games, as well as special events and marketing images. This fast-paced environment gives me the opportunity to network, caption using code replacements, retouch in Photoshop, and send photos to Getty Images in a timely manner.

I hope to continue establishing my editing, photography, and social media skills in my future endeavors.
